This week I am caught up in remodelling my website which has been live for almost 6 months now. I am the sort of person who likes to let things settle then adjust. And so now I am adjusting 😊
I was listening to an interesting conversation between Jimmy Carr and Jordan Peterson this week and one of Jimmy’s reflections on his relationship with anxiety stood out in the context of our work on mindfulness and gratitude and how we approach our mental health.
He recognised his anxiety as an essential part of his creative mind which allows him to excel in his chosen field of comedy. If he didn’t experience anxiety he wouldn’t be the artist that he was.
This caused me to pause and reflect on my own (many and varied...) neurological challenges. If I didn’t experience my mental and emotional challenges I might not be nearly as effective or empathetic as I need to be when supporting others on their life journey.
This of course doesn’t make our challenges fun or in any way easy, but if we can recognise the growth that we have achieved as a direct result of them and continue to tap into the lessons that our challenges are able to teach us then we just might build a better future for ourselves and for those we care about.
I hope to see you soon 😊
